Daily classes in business hours are held with a qualified award-winning teacher Kylie Brooke (sometimes assisted by Mavis) covering a variety of crafts. Kylie happily caters for people of all ages, male and female from primary school children to senior citizens, and she caters for all levels of expertise. For most crafts, a studio fee of $10 is charged for a 3 hour session of studio time and you choose the start time to suit your schedule. You will be in a casual and friendly atmosphere where your own creative instincts can be nurtured and expressed, but where lots of help and advice is available if needed. It's also a great time to make new friends. Free tea & coffee are provided, and other drinks and snacks are also available. Materials for the craft session are purchased as you need them from the extensive stocks held. More details for each type of craft are shown below:- Ceramics - all aspects and techniques of this wonderful craft are taught from the stage of absolute beginner to advanced ceramist. Bring your own piece to work on, or purchase from the fine range of functional and ornamental ceramic items on display around the studio. An on-site kiln firing service is also available for a small fee. More details about Ceramics are here. Examples of what can readily be done with ceramics can be seen on this page (mostly Mavis's and Kylie's work). Making Beaded Jewellery - we can help you design and make your own necklaces, earings, brooches, bracelets, etc, using our large range of reasonably priced beads and accessories. More information and some photos of examples are shown here. "Flowers that Last" - many spectacular designs, made from wire and coloured stocking. There's the option of no studio time charge - just the cost of the particular kit you choose - or an alternative. Class details are here. Basic Folk Art - simple designs on wood or ceramics. Bring your own item or purchase one from our stocks. Window Art - using Glass Paints to create colourful designs on glass or acetate sheet. The results can be hung on windows, doors or mirrors. By prior arrangement, most crafts can also be taught at other venues such as a retirement village or school if this is more convenient for a group of customers. Such classes would have to be held outside normal business hours please contact Kylie to discuss this option if it's of interest to you. Some crafts (especially ceramics, in our experience) can also be successfully taught to people with development or physical disabilities. Please contact Kylie if you need more information. |
